How does a solar pool heater work?
A pump, usually your existing pool pump sends water to the solar panels to be heated by the Sun. The solar heated water then flows back to the pool and the cycle continues until you reach your desired set point. The system is controlled using a digital thermostat with built in heating and cooling functions. Using FREE ENERGY from the sun, solar pool heaters allow you to swim more often with out the fuel cost associated with traditional pool heaters.
How much will a solar pool heater extend my swim season?
Our customers consistently report swimming about 8 months a year. Solar pool heaters will raise the temperature of your pool 8 – 15 degrees – adding an additional 3 months to your swimming season. Unlike gas heaters or heat pumps, solar customers leave there heaters ON since the energy source is free. This means no more pre-planning your swim, turning your heater on half a day before you want to swim and worrying if you shut it off overnight.
What is the cost comparison to heating with gas or electric?
Solar pool heating is hands down the most affordable way to heat your pool, because it’s free. The U.S. Department of Energy calls it the most cost effective use of solar technology today. This means a solar pool heater produces more energy per dollar spent than any residential solar system available. The amount of traditional energy replaced by a solar pool heater, can save you up to $1,300.00 per year in pool heating cost. However, most folks choose not to spend the money heating there pools, so in this case a solar pool heater simply increases the enjoyment of the pool by allowing for a longer and more comfortable swim season.
